Food self-sufficiency at family level a basis for national food security aspiration: PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, November 29, 2022 (FBC) – Self-sufficiency in food at the family level is a basis for our efforts to be food self-sufficient at the national level, said the FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Prime Minister Abiy paid a visit to households producing outputs conforming to “YeLemat Trufat” program.

“I visited with an elderly woman producing outputs related to ‘𝙔𝙚𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩 𝙏𝙞𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙖𝙩’ including poultry, livestock, honey and backyard farming in her own small space, who is not only fulfilling household consumption needs but also availing surplus to the community,” the Premier stated on his social media platforms.

It is to be remembered that the Prime Minister recently launched the “YeLemat Trufat” initiative in Southern People’s region.

Since then, the program is being promoted across all parts of the country to date in a bid to ensure food self-sufficiency.
