FM Taye holds talks with Secretary of State for FCDO of the UK
Addis Ababa, August 16, 2024 (FBC) – Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Ambassador Taye Atkse-Selassie, and David Lammy, the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, engaged in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the Foreign Minister confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
This marks the first interaction since David Lammy’s appointment to the aforementioned position.
During their discussion, they exchanged views on Ethiopia’s ambitious economic reform plans and the UK’s support for the recently implemented Homegrown Economic Reform Policy Program 2.0.
Additionally, they also touched upon bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern, including the ongoing conflict in Sudan, post-ATMIS efforts and initiatives for peace in Sudan as well as and the barriers to stability and inclusive growth.
Following their conversation, Foreign Minister Taye expressed his appreciation for the UK’s support of Ethiopia’s economic reform policy.
Foreign Minister Taye mentioned that they further discussed various bilateral and regional issues of significance, including post-ATMIS efforts and initiatives for peace in Sudan.
