FM Taye confers with US Special Envoy for Sudan

Addis Ababa, March 14, 2024 (FBC) – Foreign Minister, Taye Astke- Selassie received and held discussions with the US Special Envoy to  the Sudan, Tom Perriello, at his office today. The two sides discussed current situation in the Sudan and issues of mutual concern.

During their discussion, the special envoy expressed US’s deep concerns over the ongoing fighting in the Sudan.

Foreign Minister Taye, on his part, spoke at length about Ethiopia’s efforts to put an end to the conflict in Sudan. Ambassador Taye also recalled efforts that Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed made to bring the two warring parties to a negotiating table and resolve their differences peacefully.

Both parties agreed  to continue working together in bringing a lasting peace in the Sudan.
