FM Taye Atske-Selassie confers with his Maltese counterpart
Addis Ababa, March 25, 2024 (FBC) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie held meeting with Ian Borg, Minister of Foreign, European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maltese Minister’s visit to Ethiopia aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and foster cooperation between the two nations.
Ambassador Taye Askesilasse congratulated the Government of Malta for its OSCE chairmanship. He also appreciated the government of Malta for playing a positive role in multilateral forums including the UN Security Council by taking reasonable and balanced positions on pressing global peace and security issues.
Furthermore, Minster Borg engaged in high-level meetings with key Ethiopian government officials including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to explore opportunities for further collaboration and partnership.
They also sought to deepen the understanding and friendship between the people of Ethiopia and Malta. The two countries are working together to enhance their cooperation in various fields, per MFA Ethiopia.
MFA Ethiopia asserted that the Maltese FM’s official visit highlights the commitment of both countries to enhancing their bilateral diplomatic relations and promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
The two countries have signed Memorandum of Understandings on aviation, tourism, and diplomatic training during FM Borg’s first visit to Addis Ababa in May last year.
Recall that the first Ethiopia–Malta Business forum was held in Addis Ababa on March 12, 2024, with the presence of dignitaries from both nations, delegates from 16 Maltese companies, private sector representatives, and various stakeholders.
