FM Gedion confers with Deputy PM and Labor & Social Affairs Minister of Czech Republic
Addis Ababa, December 9, 2024 (FMC) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, Marian Jurečka, later today.
During his visit to Ethiopia, Marian Jurečka noted that he had productive discussions with various senior government officials. He also mentioned that his delegation included business leaders, highlighting that the visit aimed to strengthen the economic ties between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic.
Marian Jurečka emphasized Ethiopia’s key position in Africa, stating that it holds strategic importance for the Czech Republic, which is reflected in the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.
In his remarks, Gedion underscored the longstanding partnership between the two countries and the meaningful cooperation they have fostered. He highlighted the significant role of Czech Republic’s technical and financial support in the establishment of various industries in Ethiopia.
The Minister noted the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in sectors such as economy, industry, trade, investment, water and energy, agriculture, as well as cooperation on defense industries.
Gedion also highlighted that the Czech Republic, as a member of the European Union, has been a friendly nation to Ethiopia within the EU framework. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening this friendship during the discussions.
Gedion further reflected on the progress made in the relations between the two nations, particularly in light of recent high-level visits by leaders, which have bolstered ties and opened avenues for further collaboration
