First phase of operation for “Unity in Diversity” completed successfully: GCS
Addis Ababa, December 23, 2021 (FBC) – Minister of Government Communication Service, Legesse Tulu (PhD), in a televised statement, said the first phase of ‘Operation for Unity in Diversity’ led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been completed successfully.
Saying that the aim of the operation was to liberate Amhara and Afar region from occupation of the terrorist TPLF, the Minister stated that the entire Afar and Eastern zones of the Amhara region have been cleared of the aggression of the Junta forces as per the plan. Developments in areas of western Amhara will be announced in the future, he said.
The Ground Force, Mechanized Force, Air Force and Commandos of the National Defense Forces has routed the terrorist group forces in the Afar and Amhara regions, and effectively prevented the Junta from taking ammunitions it brought to the areas it had invaded to its final destination.
The Amhara and Afar forces have gallantly contributed to the victory gained against the aggressor TPLF, he said, adding that all Ethiopians are winner in the existential war.
The government has decided to order the army to keep stronghold in liberated areas without further proceeding due to various reasons, Legesse said.
Legesse also added that the government will continue measures against the terrorist Shene group in Oromia region.
