First phase of Daguiru-Galafi road inaugurated
Addis Ababa, December 9, 2020 (FBC) –The first phase of the Daguiru-Galafi road project was inaugurated last Sunday.
Financed by Japan, the first phase of the road is part of the 100km road leading to the border with Ethiopia.
The project is part of efforts to improve the smooth and timely transport of goods and commodities between Ethiopia and Djibouti and enhancing the safety of truck drivers on the main route via Galafi corridor.
Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye, attended the inauguration of the 20.86km stretch of the road.
He underscored that the on-going rehabilitation of the road will greatly reduce the travel time and strengthen the strong economic ties between the two fraternal countries.
The rehabilitation of the remaining 80Kms road has already begun, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti.
