Finance Minister calls on multilateral organizations to back Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reform
Addis Ababa, April 12, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, participated “Overcoming Debt, Generating Growth” panel facilitated by the World Bank President David Mallpass.
The Minister reminded Ethiopia’s request on debt treatment 2 years ago at G20 and awaiting a quick move macroeconomic related internal and external challenges such as drought, conflict and climate change.
He also emphasized transformations such as homegrown economic reform, financing, addressing currency issues that need to be supported through partnership with the multilateral institutions like the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and private sector investments.
Recall that Ethiopian delegation, consisting of Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and Governor of National Bank of Ethiopia, is participating in the World Bank Group-IMF Spring Meetings 2023, being held from April 10 to 16, in Washington D.C.
