Finance Minister Ahmad Shide Meets with Djibouti’s Energy Minister
Addis Ababa, August 8, 2016 (FBC) – Finance Minister Ahmad Shide held discussions with a delegation led by Djibouti’s Energy Minister, Yonis Ali Ghuedi.
The talks centered on strategies to enhance the fuel storage capacity of the Horizon Terminal, aiming to improve service delivery to Ethiopia. Both parties emphasized that strengthening the Horizon Djibouti Terminal’s capacity would facilitate a more reliable fuel supply to Ethiopia.
As part of the initiative, there was a proposal to connect the Awash Depot with Djibouti’s Horizon Terminal via rail. Technical committees from both sides quickly reviewed and considered the agreements, leading to the signing of a contract in September to kick off the construction process.
The meeting also included the Prime Minister’s macroeconomic advisor, Ambassador Girma Birru, the CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holding, Birook Taye, alongside the heads of Horizon Djibouti Terminal and the Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise.
