Farmers in Amhara Regional State back to agricultural works: Command Post

Addis Ababa, August 23, 2023 (FBC) – The State of Emergency Command Post appraised the the third round activities it carried out over the last twenty days. In its report, the Command Post confirmed that most of the zones of the Amhara Regional State have returned to business as usual.

The Command Post stated that it has repelled the machination of the armed group in Amhara region which tried to dismantle the constitutional order in the region by controlling towns, freeing prisoners and destroying infrastructures.

Major roads connecting zones with Bahir Dar City and the region with Addis Ababa have been reopened for services, the Command Post said, adding that all public and private organization have restarted their regular services.

The command post appreciated the support the people in the region are giving to the National Defense Forces. “The armed forces have not been able to seal off roads and shops, carry out raids on infrastructures and spread misinformation among the communities in pocket areas where they are gathering,” the report says.

The Command Post said that it has ordered security forces to intensify military operation to ensure peace and stability in the region. “Major actors of the rebellious activities are being arrested in areas that have been freed from robbers and extremist forces,”

“Apart from some pocket areas, farmers are back to agricultural works thanks to the State of Emergency and the consequent peaceful situation, and agricultural inputs are being transported to the areas,” the Command Post said.

The Command Post extended gratitude to security forces, the people and its members at regional levels for returning the region to normalcy, calling the general public of the region to continue supporting the measures underway to ensure peace and stability.
