FAO new representative in Ethiopia presents her copy of credentials
Addis Ababa, September 08, 2022 (FBC) – Newly appointed FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) Representative to Ethiopia, Mrs. Farayi Zimudzi, has presented her copy of credentials to the Director of Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Atnafu.
Following his welcoming remarks, Mr. Demeke briefed the FAO Representative about the current state of affairs in Ethiopia.
He called on the international community to condemn the unwarranted new wave of attacks launched by the TPLF, further reaffirming the Ethiopian government’s commitment to the AU-led peace process.
He explained the Ethiopian government’s commitment to negotiate outstanding issues on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam under the auspices of the African Union.
He reiterated that Ethiopia always follows international norms to avoid causing significant harm to downstream states and to use the Nile Basin water resources in an equitable and reasonable manner.
Both officials noted that existing cooperation between Ethiopia and the FAO in achieving food security should be further strengthened.
