EU reiterates continued dev’t cooperation with Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, June 29, 2023 (FBC) – The European Union will continue to strengthen its development cooperation with Ethiopia, reaffirmed Stefan Lock, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Ethiopia.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development Fitsum Aseffa received the Head of Cooperation at her office to discuss continued cooperation in development undertakings.
It is to be recalled that the European Union development cooperation has been engaged in development cooperation in Ethiopia for a long time.
Following the signing of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in Pretoria which ended the 2-year conflict in the northern part of Ethiopia and the encouraging and fruitful strides taken, the EU has renewed its partnership and cooperation with Ethiopia, said Stefan Lock, during the meeting with Minister Fitsum Aseffa.
The Head of the Cooperation disclosed that the EU is preparing and finalizing a framework for medium-term development cooperation.
For her part, Minister Fistum extensively highlighted the Ethiopian government’s medium-term development and investment plan and Homegrown Economic Reform Phase II.
She mentioned that further discussions will be held at the technical level in order to ensure the priority development needs and the benefit of the society in conformance with EU’s framework for medium-term development cooperation plan.
