EU official commends steps taken by Ethiopia to investigate alleged human rights violation

Addis Ababa, March 19, 2021 (FBC) -Ambassador of Ethiopia to Belgium, Hirut Zemene met with Eamon Gilmore, European Union (EU) Special Representative for Human Rights.

The two sides exchanged views on the current status of efforts to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, the ongoing investigation process of alleged Human rights violation, as well as the upcoming national election.

Gilmore commended steps taken to investigate human rights violation and expressed points of concern that need to be looked at further.

The EU is among the international actors expected to observer the upcoming national election.
