EU gravely concerned with situation in Sudan: EU Official
Addis Ababa, May 2, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Director-General, Head of Africa Department, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Irina S Nyoni, says that the violent clashes going on in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since 15 April is a tragedy that concerns not only for neighboring country but also for the region at large.
Deputy Director-General, Head of Africa Department at Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Irina S Nyoni, in her latest exclusives interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate urged all sides to show leadership and engage in an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Irina S Nyoni also stressed the crucial importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and return to regional negotiations.
She reaffirmed EU’s continued coordination efforts with regional and international partners to promote the path towards a political agreement that would bring peace, stability and economic development as EU warily eyes the situation in Sudan.
She underscored that the EU along with regional actors in the Horn of Africa-affairs including EU-AU partnership are engaged in findings ways to bring lasting peace through negations for the two sides fighting in Sudan.
