Ethiopia’s GLI inspires countries to embark on national tree planting campaigns
Addis Ababa, December 4, 2023 (FBC) – Press Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, Billene Seyoum stated in a video message that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has made official visits to three countries; the Republic of Austria, Czech Republic and UAE, over the past week.
Billene said that Premier’s working visit to Vienna during the UNIDO General Conference was fruitful in terms of cementing the bilateral ties between Ethiopia and the Republic of Austria.
According to the Press Secretary, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also paid an official visit to the Czech Republic where he was accorded with ceremonial welcome by his Czech counterpart in 28 November.
Following the bilateral discussion between the two leaders, Ethiopia and Czech Republic reached an agreement to work in collaboration in tourism, agriculture and defense sector particularity in the military aviation area, Billene said.
The Premier further landed at Dubai ahead of the COP 28 to launch the green exhibition at the Ethiopian pavilion in the vicinity of the UN Climate Change Conference venue.
At the Pavilion which was visited by leaders of several countries and heads of international organizations, Ethiopia has well managed to share its success stories gained though the implementation of the Green Legacy Initiative, Billene disclosed.
Ethiopian best experiences in its Green Legacy Initiative, agriculture, food security and renewable energy sectors have been showcased to the world from the pavilion, she said.
Billene further pointed out that Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative has inspired various countries including Canada, the U.S, Kenya and Saudi Arabia to embark on national tree planting campaigns and related greenery activities.
Billene went on to mention that the Premier made historic remarks at COP 28, calling for concrete actions against climate change.
According to the Press Secretary, on the sidelines of the COP 28, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held bilateral discussion with leaders of several countries and heads of international organizations.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) returned home on Monday concluding his official trips to the three countries and his participation at COP28, the Press Secretary said.
