Ethiopia’s e-Commerce market size reachs over 300 Billion ETB

Addis Ababa, August 17, 2021 (FBC) – The Innovation and Technology Minister, Abrham Belay (PhD) announced that Ethiopia’s e-commerce size has reached over 300 Billion Birr during the concluded fiscal year.

He stated that Ethiopia has put in place enabling mechanisms that helped to speed up its path to the digital economy.

Legal instruments and proclamations developed by the government with a view to gear up the digitization process ad enhance e-commerce have been sent to the Attorney General for further scrutiny, according to Abrham.

The legal documents will be approved by the parliament to be established in the new Ethiopian new year, and made effective accordingly, he added.
