Ethiopia’s calls for robust IT ecosystem
Addis Ababa, April 24, 2024 (FBC) – Minister of Innovation & Technology of Ethiopia, Belete Molla, emphasized the critical need to establish a robust and sustainable ecosystem for the advancement of information technology during his opening address at the Accelerated Digital Transformation Summit 2024 (ADT).
The two-day Summit, organized by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia (MInT) and Extensia, commenced today in Addis Ababa. The opening session was attended by representatives of organizations and experts from Europe, Asia, and Africa specializing in ICT, digitalization, and telecom sectors.
During the event, Minister Belete Molla highlighted that the summit serves as a pan-African platform for participating countries to share best practices, delve into new innovations, and collaboratively shape their respective national information technology agendas.
Emphasizing the fast changing dynamics of technology, the minister underscored the necessity of establishing a robust and enduring ecosystem to enhance information technology. He further noted that the summit will contribute to fostering a prosperous continent by harnessing Africa’s potential through accelerated digital transformation.
He asserted that the recent Startup Ethiopia conference, attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, senior government officials, experts, and organizations in the sector, serves as evidence of Ethiopia’s dedicated efforts towards achieving digital transformation through the Digital Ethiopia strategy.
Belete Molla confirmed that an upcoming science, technology, innovation, and digital expo is scheduled to take place next month in the Ethiopian capital, aimed at boosting the digital sector.
In his remarks, CEO of Extensia, Tariq Malik, expressed that the summit will not only establish a conducive ecosystem and envision a digitally empowered future but also represent a pivotal stride towards realizing the anticipated outcomes.
