Ethiopians Yalemzerf and Jemal set UK All-comers Records in Larne

Addis Ababa, August 29, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians Yalemzerf Yehualaw and Jemal Yimer successfully defended Antrim Coast Half Marathon titles on Sunday in Larne.

Jemal Yimer clocked 59:04 to win the men’s race while Yalemzerf YEHUALAW won the women’s race in 1:04:22. Both runners set new UK all-comers records.

For Yalemzerf, who ran a 1:03:51 half marathon PB in Valencia last October, her performance is the equal fifth-fastest ever women’s half marathon achieved on a record-eligible course.

Likewise, in women’s half marathon race held in Australia, Ethiopian athlete Bekelech Gudeta clocked 1:08 to finish first while other compatriot Kiros Ashenafi ranked second with 1:05 in men’s tournament in the same event.
