Ethiopians in Geneva fundraise for reconstruction of schools in Afar Amhara Regions
Addis Ababa, February 28, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian origin staged a fundraising event in Geneva to mobilize financial support for reconstruction of schools damaged by terrorist TPLF in Afar and Amhara Regions.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Romania and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UN Office at Geneva and other international organizations, Zenebe Kebede appreciated contributions of Ethiopians and descendants in addressing challenges posed by the terrorist TPLF on the country.
Ethiopians in Geneva have been strong solidarity with homeland in defending national interests of the country from the pressures posed by the TPLF and its external allies, Ambassador Zenebe noted.
On the occasion, the portrait of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) painted by a Russian painter who is a friend of Ehtiopia was offered for auction, and bought by an Ethiopian bidder with 2,000 Swiss Franc. Owner of the Awash Restaurant in Geneva, Tahir Tabet has also contributed 100,000 ETB at the fundraising event.
Ambassador Zenebe appreciated participants for their attendance and contribution calling them to expedite support for restoration of schools and other social service infrastructures in the two highly affected regions.
