Ethiopians, Ethiopian Jews in Israel mark 10th anniversary of commencement of GERD

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopians and members of the Ethiopian Jewish Community in Israel have celebrated the commencement of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) with various events.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Israel, Reta alemu briefed participants on the progress of the construction of the dam and expressed gratitude to Ethiopian and members of the Ethiopian Jewish Community for their unreserved support to the project.

Ethiopian Jews has so far purchased GERD amounting over 1 Million US Dollars calling the community to continue assistance towards successful completion of the dam.

Chairman of the Renaissance Council, Rahmim Alazar explained about the activities being carried out to realize successful completion of the dam pledging unrelenting assistance of the mega project.

Participants, to themselves, reiterated commitment for realization of the dam which is tailored to lift many Ethiopians out of darkness and further cement economic integration in the region.
