Ethiopians, Eritreans protest against H.R. 6600, S. 3199 in Los Angeles
Addis Ababa, April 12, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians, Eritreans and frieds of the two countries have staged demonstration in Los Angeles, U.S. protesting H.R. 6600 and S. 3199 draft bills.
The demonstration held in front of the office of the California’s Congressman Brad Sherman who is co-proposer of the draft bills.
Demonstrators carried placards read: “H.R. 6600 and S. 3199 draft bills tarnish relationships between Ethiopia and the U.S.”, “Sanctions Kill”, “H.R. 6600 and S. 3199 draft bills put peace and security of East Africa at risk”, among others.
Friends of Ethiopia including candidate for California’s 32nd Congressional District, Aarika Rhodes took part in the demonstration.
Today I supported our Ethiopian & Eritrean communities in #CA-32 at Rep @BradSherman’s office for a protest. I believe representatives should listen to their constituents even if they may disagree.

Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian descent in the U.S. are briefing congressmen and senators on potential consequences the draft bills may cause if they are approved, and issuing letters to representatives and concerned bodies of the U.S. government calling for withdrawal of the bills.
