Ethiopian, US officials discuss avenues to enhance economic cooperation and partnership
Addis Ababa, March 21, 2025 (FMC) – Ms. Semereta Sewasew met with Mr. John Tomaszewski, Senior Professional Staff Member for Africa Policy on the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to discuss strengthening economic cooperation and partnership.
State Minister Semereta extended a warm welcome and emphasized the shared commitment to developing targeted strategies that will enhance both economic and political cooperation between the two nations, particularly in light of the evolving global economic landscape.
She further highlighted the United States as a key strategic partner, with whom Ethiopia has forged a longstanding and robust partnership.
Mr. John Tomaszewski outlined the policy shifts within the U.S. government administration and acknowledged the critical importance of advancing a more strategic and mutually beneficial development path for both nations.
He emphasized the necessity of ongoing dialogue and engagement to explore additional opportunities for collaboration moving forward.
Furthermore, he underscored the significance of Ethiopia’s continued engagement with international institutions as a means to further solidify the partnership.
