Ethiopian Team triumphs over British Virgin Islands, Lesotho in 2 Round of 45th Chess Olympiad
Addis Ababa, September 13, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Chess Team is participating in the 45th Chess Olympiad, an international team chess event organised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in Budapest, Hungary from 10 to 23 September 2024.
Competing under the auspices of the International Chess Federation, the team, consisting of five male and five female players, proudly represented Ethiopia with a total of 12 members.
The Ethiopian team achieved a remarkable victory in the Round 2 of the 45th Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary.
In the Round 2, the Ethiopian women’s team triumphed over the British Virgin Islands with a commanding 4-0 victory, while the men’s team edged out Lesotho with a score of 2½ to 1½.
Looking ahead, the national team is set to face Algeria in the women’s category and Albania in the men’s category during the Round 3.
The Ethiopian delegation has garnered significant international attention, showcasing the country’s chess talent and promoting its presence at this prestigious event.
