Ethiopian say working to establish aero-space technologies manufacturing center

Addis Ababa, October 19, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Airlines confirmed that works are in progress to develop the aerospace technologies manufacturing industry in the country.

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, pointed out that preparations are being made to manufacture various parts of aircraft parts in the country on a large scale.

Reminding the movement to manufacture aircraft internal spare parts in the country has started on a large scale, the Group CEO also pointed out that the move is vital for the development of Ethiopia’s aerospace manufacturing industry.

The prospect of manufacturing of aircraft internal parts accessories in local industries can help spare foreign exchange, create job opportunities to citizens and establish the culture of technology transfer, it is pointed out.

It is to be recalled that Ethiopian Airlines Group signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Investment Commission and the Industrial Parks Development Corporation in August to enable the production of aircraft internal components at the Kilinto Industrial Park.

Aerospace engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on the design, development, manufacture and testing of aircraft, spacecraft and related systems and equipment.
