Ethiopian researcher wins MARS Awards 2022
Addis Ababa January 11, 2023 (FBC) – Merck Foundation announced Africa Research Summit–MARS Awards 2022 of Best African Women Researchers and young African Researchers.
MARS Award winners 2022 incorporates 7 Researchers from 7 different African Countries including Ethiopia who are recognized for two categories – Best African Women Researchers and Best Young African Researchers.
According to APO Group, Ethiopian researcher Edidia Firdawoke, is among the seven winners of the award
Edidia Firdawoke selected as a winner in her work titled, HPV in women with invasive cervical cancer lesion and cancer: the use of urine as an adjunct specimen.
The researcher currently works at the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Addis Ababa University where she does research in Human papillomavirus
MARS Awards, aims to empower African young researchers and of course to empower and encourage African women researchers through advancing their research capacity and promote their contribution to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)” the CEO stated.
The winners of ‘Best African women Researchers Awards’ and ‘Best Young African Researcher Awards’ will be enrolled into research training at a premier research institute in India.
