Ethiopian Premier League cancelled due to COVID 19 pandemic
Addis Ababa, May 5, 2020 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Premier League 2019/2020 season has been cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic.
The decision came after a teleconference was held between the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF), Premier League Committee and the government.
The immediate cause to the cancelation of the season is associated with the declaration of COVID 19 emergency in the country and uncertainty when the pandemic will over, said the federation.
As there will be no champion or relegation in the season, Ethiopia will not have representative clubs in the upcoming CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, it added.
The federation finally urged players to live up to their contracts effective till July 7, 2020.
