Ethiopian Investment Forum held in Doha, Qatar, attracts some towards pre-investment visit
Addis Ababa March 8, 2023 (FBC) – State Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga addressed the Ethiopian Investment Forum held on 06 March 2023 in Doha, Qatar.
Organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Qatar, the forum deliberated on promoting investment potentials and opportunities in Ethiopia.
Ethiopia’s favorable infrastructures and eco-friendly industrial parks located with close proximity to the country’s export corridors as well as its cheaper and sufficient energy power capacities were also highlighted.
Some participants expressed keen interest in undertaking a pre-investment visit to Ethiopia. Clarifications were also provided to the questions raised by the participants of the Forum.
Ambassador Mesganu also briefed participants about Ethiopia’s natural resource potentials as well as opportunities in the manufacturing, agro-processing, hospitality and tourism sectors that are among priority sectors identified for foreign investors.
The Ambassador further highlighted the market advantage that Ethiopia offers to foreign investors both through a huge domestic market as well as a preferential duty-free market access to various countries.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Mesganu underlined the need to augment trade and investment ties between Ethiopia and Qatar in light of the bilateral relations existing between the two countries.
Ambassador Feisel Aliyi, Ethiopia’s Envoy to the State of Qatar provided an elaborated presentation to the gathering about favorable incentives available to attract foreign direct investment in Ethiopia.
He briefed the business community the lucrative investment sectors that Ethiopia offers for foreign investors. He highlighted the investment friendly policy and legal reforms Ethiopia has undertaken in recent years with a view enhancing the role of the private sector in the economy
