Ethiopian flight to Dhaka boosts investment, business cooperation between Ethiopia & Bangladesh
Addis Ababa, November 4, 2024 (FBC) – The commencement of Ethiopian Airlines flights to Dhaka will boost the investment and business cooperation between Ethiopia and Bangladesh, Bangladesh Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sikder Bodiruzzaman underscored.
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline and a member of the Star Alliance, has officially launched the commencement of its new five weekly flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Speaking on the inaugural ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Commercial Officer, Lema Yadecha said it is a remarkable event for Ethiopia and Bangladesh that strengthens socio economic cooperation between the two countries.
This new route will further strengthen Ethiopian’s presence in South Asia, providing convenient connections between Bangladesh and key destinations across Africa and beyond, he added.
Operating five Addis Ababa-Dhaka-Addis Ababa flights weekly, Ethiopian Airlines offers Bangladeshi travellers seamless access to Africa and beyond, including over 140 destinations across Europe, North America, and other continents.
The new service will see morning departures from Dhaka on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, along with evening departures on Mondays and Fridays.
On his part, Bangladesh Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sikder Bodiruzzaman underscored that it is a great achievement and testament of cooperation between the two countries.
He further stated that the new flight would open a gate way to boost business cooperation, investment and economic prosperity, as reported by local news agency ENA.
It is also a promise to further deepen socio-cultural ties between peoples of the two countries, the ambassador said.
As the airlines is going to operate five flights weekly, it will be providing travellers from Bangladesh with convenient access to over 155 destinations worldwide, including major cities across Africa, Europe, North America, and other regions.
The new route expected to play pivotal role in fostering growth, highlighting the potential for increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
With a fleet of 147 aircrafts, Ethiopian Airlines is Africa’s largest airline by passenger volume, destinations, fleet size, and revenue, and it ranks as the fourth-largest globally in terms of countries served.
Already an established player in South Asia, with routes to Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Karachi, the addition of Dhaka is a strategic advancement in the airline’s broader Asian expansion.
