Ethiopian envoy holds talks with head of Russia’s Rossotrudnichestvo

Addis Ababa, March 11, 2025 (FMC) — Genet Teshome (PhD), Ambassador of Ethiopia to Russia, met today with Mr. Evgeny Alexandrovich, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

On the occasion, Mr. Evgeny spoke about the Agency’s plan for Ethiopia in the areas of educational, scientific and cultural domains.

He also highlighted the decision of the Russian government to increase the number of scholarships to Ethiopian students and strengthen the Russian Cultural Center that is based in Addis Ababa.

The cooperation in agricultural field with African countries in general and Ethiopia in particular was also discussed that the Russian government considers carrying out to enhance self- sustainability and agricultural sovereignty in the continent.

On his part, Ambassador Genet thanked the Director for the scholarship opportunities being provided for Ethiopian students and the decision to increase the number of quotas to be granted to Ethiopia.

He also appreciated the initiative taken by the Russian government to enhance cooperation with African countries in agricultural sector and engage in international development assistance.

The efforts of the government of Ethiopia to reform the political, economic and social situations of the country are well underway with a view to bring about societal transformation across the country, Ambassador Genet underlined.
