Ethiopian Electric Power sign 5 years agreement to share a dark fiber-optic
Addis Ababa, March 11, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Electric Power and Safaricom Ethiopia have signed a 5 years lease agreement to share dark fiber-optic infrastructure in the country.
Ashebir Balcha, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power and Anwar Soussa, CEO of Safaricom Ethiopia have signed the agreement on behalf of their respective enterprises.
“We are grateful for the spirit of cooperation from EEP on the win-win partnership to support our contributions to the digital transformation of Ethiopia,” Anwar Soussa said on the occasion.
“Such infrastructure sharing agreements will enable us to fulfil our commitment to transform Ethiopian lives for a digital future and contributes to efforts being made to the phased operation launch.’’ He added.
The shared infrastructure will be used as part of Safaricom ET’s network to provide national telecommunications services in forms of voice, data, video, text, messages and conferencing, it is stated on the signing ceremony.
