Ethiopian delegation returns to Addis Ababa from Accra
Addis Ababa, March 25, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian athletics delegation has returned to Addis Ababa after securing 22 medals at the African Games.
Arriving in Addis Ababa this evening, the Ethiopian athletic delegation, which took part in the 13th Pan African Games in Ghana, was welcomed at Bole International Airport by the Minister of State for Culture and Sports, Ambassador Mesfin Chernet, and the President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, Derartu Tulu.
The 13th edition of the African Games took place in Accra, Ghana, from February 8 to March 23, 2024, with over 5,000 athletes from 53 countries competing across 29 sports disciplines.
Ethiopia fielded a team of 165 athletes across five Olympic events and four non-Olympic sports, totaling nine sports in which they participated, including athletics, football, swimming, table tennis, field tennis, boxing, basketball, cycling, and World Taekwondo.
In total, Ethiopia secured 9 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze medals, culminating in an eighth-place finish.
A program of recognition and awards will be held for the Ethiopian delegation that participated in the 13th African Games.
