Ethiopian delegation participating in WHO Africa regional committee meeting
Addis Ababa, August 28, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian delegation led by the State Minister of Health, Dr. Dereje Dhuguma, is participating in the 73rd World Health Organization’s Africa regional committee meeting, which kicked off today in Gaborone, Botswana.
It is learned that this African regional committee forum is one of the six regional governing bodies of the World Health Organization. It is also a committee representing the countries of the African region which contains 47 member states.
More than 20 different health agendas will be discussed in the regional committee meeting, it is stated. The performance of the year 2023 as well as the current and future strategic issues of the health of the African community and the general situation of the health of the world community will be presented at the forum for consultation and discussion. In addition, it is expected that documents containing 4 resolutions will be submitted and approved by the member states.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that Ethiopia will present various statements in the forum. The delegation will also participate in the sideline meetings.
The forum will continue for the next 5 days in the capital of Botswana.
