Ethiopian delegation participating in IGF2023 in Japan
Addis Ababa, October 9, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation is participating in the 18th Internet Governance Forum (IGF2023), being held in Kyoto, Japan.
The Forum, which is being held under the overarching theme, ‘The Internet We Want – Empowering All People’, is deliberating on various issues pertaining to internet governance.
Artificial Intelligence and the ultramodern technology, avoiding the division of the Internet, information network security, information network crime and online security, data management and inclusiveness, human rights and freedom, and sustainability are said to be the agendas of the conference.
Huria Ali, Minister of State for Innovation and Technology and member of the International Internet Governance Forum leadership, and Dhaba Debele, Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan are, participating in the forum.
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology indicated that the Minister of State is expected to highlight the interests of developing countries in the area of internet governance.
It is to be remembered that Ethiopia hosted the 17th Internet Governance Forum (IGF22) last year.
The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida opened IGF2023 today in Kyoto, calling for human-centred approach to digital governance.
Nobel laureate Maria Ressa and global leaders also spoke in a special #AI panel on the occasion.
