Ethiopian delegation participates in the third LAPSSET Corridor Program Ministerial meeting
Addis Ababa, May 17, 2023 (FBC) – The third LAPSSET Corridor Program Ministerial meeting commenced today under the theme ‘Fast-tracking LAPSSET Implementation for peace, Growth, Sustainable Development and Regional Integration’ in Juba, South Sudan.
The meeting was hosted by Ministry of Transport of the Republic of South Sudan in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
The Ethiopian delegation led by Eyob Tekalign, State Minister of Ministry for Finance, accompanied with Dhengi Boru, State Minister of Ministry of Transport, Bacha Debele, Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya; and Nebil Mahadi, Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan and other higher officials of Ethiopian government are taking part in the meeting.
During the opening ceremony, remarks were made by Taban Deng Gai, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and chairman of the infrastructure cluster.
Eyob Tekalign, State Minister for Finance, highlighted the importance of the LAPSSET project in enhancing economic cooperation and regional integration among the three countries. He also reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment for the realization of the LAPSSET vision.
The three day meeting that runs from May 17-19 2023 is expected to come with an outcome document that aims at accelerating the Regional LAPSSET Corridor project implementation.
The High-Level Meeting brought together representatives government delegates, business communities, development partners and civil society organizations, as per the Ethiopian Embassy in Juba.
