Ethiopian delegation attends EASF annual meeting in Nairobi

Addis Ababa, September 21, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya, General Bacha Debele, has attended the East African Standby Force (EASF) annual meeting in Nairobi.

The meeting was chaired by Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Kenya, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Defense of EASF, the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi said.

It is learned that the annual meeting brought together ambassadors of EASF member states, international partners, and international organizations.

The meeting aims to make consultations on potential areas of cooperation with international partners to support the activities and operations of the EASF to enable the regional force to carry out in a timely manner the functions of maintenance of peace, security and stability in the region.

In the meeting the Ethiopian delegation has stressed the importance of institutional reform to empower the EASF and facilitate its functioning.
