Ethiopian delegation attending UNHRC 52nd session in Geneva
Addis Ababa, February 27, 2023 (FBC) – The 52nd Session of the United Nations Human Right Commissions started this morning by the opening speech of the UN General Assembly President, UN Secretary General, UN High Commissioners for Human Right and other 150 dignitaries.
Ethiopia, as observer state, is participating at Ministerial level and is expected to make its national statement tomorrow February 28, 2023. UNHRC is a 47 Membership UN subsidiary body, according to Ethiopian Permanent Mission Geneva.
Tsegab Kebebew, Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UN Geneva & Other International Organizations in Switzerland, is participating in the 52nd UNHRC Session.
Moreover, Gedion Temothewos, Ethiopia’s Minister of Justice addressed the 1655th plenary meeting of the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva today. The Minister underscoring the need to commence substantive negotiations on priority issues of nuclear disarmament.
He also underlined that weapons of mass destruction endanger international stability and security is still high, and the risk of these weapons falling into the hands of non-state actors is considerable, as per the Ethiopian Permanent Mission in Geneva.
