Ethiopian athletes shine in Hong Kong Marathon 2023
Addis Ababa, February 13, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Athletes have once again conquered the 2023 Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on Sunday.
The 25th Hong Kong marathon took place on Sunday with 34,783 people braving the humidity and occasional drizzle.
In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Fantu Eticha Jimma (2:27:50), Sinke Dessie (2:34:46), and Gadise Negesa (2:48:05) have all conquered the top 3 spots.
In the men’s race, Ethiopian athletes Limenih Getachew (2:11:25) and Geza Senbeta (2:11:59) finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, where Philimon Kiptoo Kipchumba from Kenya won the race, clocking 2:10:47.
The course records were both set in 2012 by Ethiopians: Dejere Abera has the men’s record of 2:11:27 hours while Misiker Demissie holds the women’s record of 2:30:12 hours.
Recall that other Ethiopian athletes have also dazzled in the Dubai Marathon on Sunday, where they conquered all the top 10 spots in men’s and women’s race.
