Ethiopian ambassadors deliberate on GERD negotiations, utilization of Abbay River
Addis Ababa, January 18, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador Sileshi Bekele, the Chief GERD Negotiator for Ethiopia and Ambassador Reta Alemu, Director General of International Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave briefings for Ethiopian Ambassadors on the successive rounds of the trilateral negotiations between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan.
The two Ambassadors stated Ethiopia’s belief in the principle of equitable and reasonable utilization of the Nile river waters and the rights and obligations stated in the Declaration of Principles (DOP).
They also expressed Ethiopia’s consistent stance of accommodating the interests of all the riparian countries.
The annual meeting of Ethiopia’s ambassadors has continued to its 5th day.
