Ethiopian Airlines committed to global excellence, socio-economic dev’t in Africa – CEO

Addis Ababa, November 21, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian Airlines, the largest airline in Africa, is committed to providing services that meet international standards and contributing to the socio-economic development of the African continent.

The airline’s CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, stated that the airline is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing its excellent international reputation by constantly striving to elevate customer service to new heights.

In an interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Mesfin emphasized that the airline has received numerous awards recently from various international organizations in recognition to its service excellence.

He mentioned that the airline has received several accolades based on positive testimonials from customers, including AFRAA’s Airline of the Year – Global Operations, “APEX Four Star Global Airline 2025, Business Travelers ‘Best African Airline’, and Best Cargo Airline-Africa awards in the past two weeks alone.

The CEO also highlighted that the airline is working diligently to contribute to the socio-economic development of the African continent by connecting Africans with the rest of the world and also connecting Africans with each other. In that regard, the airline is working to establish more joint partner airline ventures across various African countries.

Mr. Mesfin also mentioned that the airline is constructing the largest airport in Africa, which is four times bigger than its current hub, Bole International Airport. The new airport is expected to accommodate more than 100 million passengers annually.

The airline currently has 22 domestic destinations and is building six more domestic airports.

It was also mentioned that Ethiopian Airlines has recently added Africa’s first-ever Airbus A350-1000 aircraft as part of its move to add 124 new aircraft to its existing fleet.

According to the CEO, the airline’s good reputation in various areas of service globally is a testament to its commitment to excellence. He added that the recognitions and awards the airline has received will inspire it to strive for even greater heights.
