Ethiopia, Zimbabwe explore ways to buttress historic relation

Addis Ababa, November 4, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Republic of Zimbabwe, Rashid Mohammed, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Raphael Tayerera Faranisi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry of Zimbabwe in Harare.

During the meeting, both sides noted with satisfaction that the two sisterly countries view their relations from a historic, strategic and long-term perspective.

Both sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in tourism, cultural exchanges and people to people bonds aiming at laying an aesthetic, cultural, and socio-economic foundation for the excellent political relations of the two sisterly countries.

Ambassador Rashid briefed Ambassador Raphael on the peace agreement signed between the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF in South Africa.

He underlined that this agreement is of great significance to place the future of Ethiopia on a road to reforms, peace and prosperity.

Ambassador Rashid expressed his thanks to all peace-loving nations including Zimbabwe standing to the cause of Ethiopia and contributing to the conclusion of this peace agreement.

Ambassador Raphael welcomed and thanked Ambassador Rashid for the briefing.

Raphael added that Zimbabwe is supportive of the peace agreement and looks forward to strengthening its relations with Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Rashid also met on Thursday with Zimbabwe’s Chief Director of Immigration, Ms. Respect Gono, in Harare.

They exchanged views on strengthening ties between Ethiopian and Zimbabwean Immigration Departments, to jointly respond to such problems as migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
