Ethiopia working hard to address red tape in trade sector through online mechanism

Addis Ababa, March 24, 2022 (FBC) – State Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Hassen Mohammed, addressing a training on the revised commercial code, stated that Ethiopia is working to address the red tap in the trade and registration sector by using online trade registration and licensing system.

The online trade registration and licensing system is instrumental to minimize bureaucracy in the sector thereby facilitate conducive system for the global business community, the State Minister noted.

According to the State Minister, the online system is one of the steps being taken by the government to create conducive trade climate based on the revised commercial code of Ethiopia.

The commercial Code issued in 1960 was fit for purpose at the time however many things have changed and the flow of capital has not only grown but has also taken increasingly international nature and this is the major factor for commercial code amendment as him.

Hassen explained that the online system enables the global business community to get trade registration and licensing service in Ethiopia applying from wherever they are using mobile phones and other devises they prefer.
