Ethiopia unveils wide-ranging project aims to rehabilitate of conflict affected communities
Addis Ababa, June 15, 2022 (FBC) – The Government of Ethiopia has unveiled a wide-ranging project which is tailored to rehabilitate conflict affected communities in several parts of the country.
The Finance Minister Ahmed Shide briefed partners and representatives of international organizations on preparations to implement the rebuilding and reconstruction project in war-torn areas.
The project is to be implemented in Afar, Amhara, Tigray, Benshangul Gumuz and parts of Oromia Region, he stated.
He said the Government has been working to rehabilitate and restore conflict ravaged communities with 5 billion birr budget appropriated for 2021/2022 fiscal year, adding that the Government has budgeted 20 billion birr additional finance to expedite the efforts.
World Bank Representative to Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan and Eritrea, Ousmane Dione, for his part, pledged the Group’s commitment to continue support to Ethiopia in realizing the rehabilitation and reconstruction program.
