Ethiopia, UNAIDS stress sustainable financing and collaboration to end AIDS

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister of Finance, Ms. Semereta Sewasew, discussed with Dr. Anne Muthoni, UNAIDS director of the Regional Support Team for Eastern and Southern Africa on Sustainable Health Financing Strategy.

The brief meeting discussed the challenges, good practices, and areas of improvement in the health sector particularly with the global aim of ending AIDS.

The state minister highlighted that Ethiopia has been making huge investments in the health sector with the aim of increasing the access and improving the quality of services. Moreover, she stated that Ethiopia is trying to respond to the growing new AIDS infections among the youth which needs more attention and effort.

The Regional Director also stressed the collaboration on the global strategy of UNAIDS to end the epidemic. In this regard, both sides emphasized the importance of sustainable financing and collaboration as a key success factor, as per the Ministry of Finance.
