Ethiopia, Türkiye discuss deepening ties in social dev’t and inclusion
Addis Ababa, May 8, 2024 (FBC) – Ergoige Tesfaye, the Minister of Women and Social Affairs, hosted a meeting with Enver Resulogullari, the Director of the Turkish Development Cooperation and Coordination Agency, in her office.
The purpose of the discussion was to further strengthen the bilateral ties between Ethiopia and the Turkish Development Cooperation and Coordination Agency.
Welcoming the director, Ergogie Tesfaye highlighted the longstanding and cordial relations between Ethiopia and Türkiye. The Minister underscored the Ethiopian government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing societal issues through the establishment and implementation of various initiatives.
In response, Enver Resulogullari acknowledged the deep-rooted relationship between Ethiopia and Türkiye, encompassing economic, political, and social spheres. He expressed his agency’s continued support and cooperation in furthering this mutually beneficial partnership.
Enver Resulogullari mentioned that his agency would exert efforts to support the initiatives of the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, particularly in the areas of women empowerment, childcare, and the production and distribution of reusable pads to vulnerable citizens. He further promised to arrange scholarships for young women to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in Turkish universities.
The Director also expressed his commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities by constructing a library, providing braille resources, and supporting companies engaged in prosthetic and orthotic services.
The meeting provided a platform for the two parties to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration and joint efforts to address the developmental needs of the Ethiopian people.
