Ethiopia to vaccinate 7m children against polio
Addis Ababa, October 2, 2020 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Public Health Institution has announced plan to carry out a four-day campaign to vaccinate children against polio.
The campaign will be held from October 7-10, 2020 in 47 zones of Oromia, Somali, SNNP and Harrai regional states as well as Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa city administrations.
According to the institute, more than 7 million children under the age of five years will receive the vaccine.
The institute further said that preparations are underway to vaccinate 704,000 people against yellow fever beginning from October 23.
The campaign will be held in 11 wordeas of SNNP and one woreda of Oromia regional states.
A yellow fever outbreak occurred in March this year in SNNP regional state was controlled, said the institute.
