Ethiopia to renovate historical Embassy building in Djibouti
ddis Ababa, June 18, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti and the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to refurbish a building that had served as the Ethiopian Embassy and Consulate since the second half of the 1960s to 2003 G.C.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, who is on a working visit to Djibouti, attended the signing ceremony and expressed her belief that the renovation of the building would reflect its historical attachment to Ethiopia and Djibouti besides promoting Ethiopia’s image positively.
The State Minister said upon the completion of the renovation project, the building would generate income, help the mission in Djibouti to be self-sufficient as well as reduce the federal government’s foreign exchange expenditure.
Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, Ethiopia’s Ambassador in Djibouti and Engineer Yonas Ayalew, representative of the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation signed the agreement in the presence of the Director of Djibouti’s branch of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia as well as scores of high-level officials.
