Ethiopia to Host 20th ILO regional seminar for labor-based practitioners

Addis Ababa, May 19, 2023 (FBC) – The 20th International Labour Organization (ILO’s) Regional Seminar for Labour-based Practitioners set to be held in Ethiopia in 2025.

It is stated that the 20th Regional Seminar will provide an opportunity for participants to share views, experiences and review developments in employment-intensive approaches to creating communities that are resilient to socio-economic, environmental and climate change hazards.

The 2025 ILO Regional Seminar is set to bring together various participants in Ethiopia, including  ministers of labour, TVET, education, Policy makers, Development partners, employers and workers’ associations, labour-based technology practitioners,  various bilateral and multilateral organizations, NGOs, academic and research institutions, and the private sector, to share views, experiences and review developments in employment-intensive approaches to creating communities that are resilient to socio-economic, environmental and climate change hazards.

The ILO through its Employment Intensive Investment Program (EIIP) leads the regional seminars for labour-based practitioners which are held every two years, in the African region.

The aim is to bring together practitioners, policy makers, planners, implementers, researchers and academics from the all over the world to share experiences including innovative approaches and to exchange views on specific themes related to employment intensive investments and labour-based technology. Since its introduction in 1990, around 70 low and middle-income countries including 40 African countries, have participated in this ILO programme.
