Ethiopia to Exhibit Thriving Textile Industry Products in Paris
Addis Ababa, February 8, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia will showcase its thriving textile and garment sector at the Texworld Apparel Sourcing 2025 exhibition in Paris from February 10 to 12, the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) announced.
As part of the “Made in Ethiopia” initiative, a delegation of 12 of the country’s leading manufacturers will exhibit their latest collections demonstrating Ethiopia’s emergence as a competitive sourcing destination for international buyers, it added.
According to a press release of the development cooperation, the delegation will demonstrate Ethiopia’s strengths in quality, sustainability, and innovative production by displaying a diverse range of products from sportswear and fashion apparel to home textiles and industrial fabrics.
With over 100,000 operators employed in the garment sector, contributing 17.5 percent of the entire manufacturing labor force, Ethiopia is strategically positioning itself as a key player in the global apparel supply chain.
On top of that, Ethiopia’s industrial parks, specializing on textile and garment production, provide companies with state-of-the-art infrastructure and operational capacities, the release stated.
Recognizing the evolving global landscape and the suspension from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), Ethiopia is actively diversifying its export markets, it noted.
The country seeks to capitalize on Europe’s €190 billion (as of 2022) apparel and textile import market by leveraging its duty-free access under the EU’s “Everything But Arms” (EBA) agreement.
Texworld Paris 2025 will also host the exclusive Ethiopia Buyers’ Club, which aims to foster long-term partnerships between international buyers and leading suppliers from Ethiopia.
A networking reception hosted by the Ethiopian Embassy in Paris will be held on February 10, providing a dedicated setting for business-to-business interactions and exploring mutually beneficial collaborations, it was learned.
