Ethiopia, Sudan defense forces discuss to apply cooperation on security and human trafficking
Addis Ababa, December 20, 2022 (FBC) – The representatives of Ethiopian National Defense Forces and Sudanese counterpart held discussion to exert cooperation on human trafficking and security in the border areas of the two countries.
The senior military leaders of the two countries discussed issues that would enable the region to be a corridor of peace and development and to control illegal activities together in Metema Yohannes city.
The representative of the FDRE Defense Forces, Brigadier General Erqalo Dukato, stated that the discussion is instrumental to jointly solve the problems arising in the border areas.
He also indicated that the discussion is necessary to jointly prevent illegal trafficking of people and property in border areas of the two countries.
Sudan’s Khartoum Attache Chief, Brigadier General Abdullah Mohamed, for his part, said that the discussion is momentous for the two friendly countries, indicating that it will enable them to work closely while reviewing the process.
During the discussion, the Deputy Head of Peace and Security of West Gonder Zone, Gashaw Alemayehu, said the discussion is critical to closely work to control the anti-peace forces and thieves who are working to hinder the friendship between Ethiopia and Sudan.
A Facebook post by the FDRE Defense Force indicates that both sides expressed readiness to work closely with law enforcement bodies to ensure peace and security in the future.
