Ethiopia, Sudan agree to ramp up security and information cooperation

Addis Ababa, December 24, 2022 (FBC) – High ranking military intelligence officers of Ethiopia and Sudan have discussed to work together on peace and security in Khartoum.

The two sides discussed to scale up cooperation and operations in ensuring peace and stability in the East African region.

During the discussion, Chief of Defense Intelligence at ENDF, Major General, Demsew Amenu, said that Ethiopia and Sudan have long-standing relations that shares culture and history.

He stated the relationship between the people of the two countries have been built on a strong foundation.

It is important to work together and cooperate in the area of peace and security so that impression of tolerance and solidarity can continue in the long run Major General Demsewu stated.

The head of Sudan’s military intelligence, Major General Mohamed Ali Ahmed, on his part said that the cooperation agreement will help fill gaps in the area of peace and security.

He indicated that the discussion showcases the cooperation of the two countries and enables the safety of the people of the two countries, who are bound by blood, and increases  their benefits to a higher level by ramping up information exchanges and joint operations to prevent terrorism, which is a major threat in the region.

The High ranking military intelligence officers of the two countries have advised on working together for peace and security information sharing between the countries’ intelligence agencies.

On the discussion Sudan’s Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. Gen. Majidi Ibrahim Ousman, Brigadier General Abdullah Mohamed, Ethiopia’s military attaché in Sudan, and other senior military leaders were present.
